Helen Forehand, 89, of Patoka passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Odin Health Care Center in Odin. She was born on September 27, 1928 in Farmer City, IL, the daughter of Morton and Goldie (Bateson) Riggs. She married Leo Forehand on September 30, 1948 in Vandalia and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2016.
Survivors include her loving children, Florence White of Knoxville, TN, Junetta Bullard and husband Larry of Salem, Sharon Korzenewski of Patoka, Joe Forehand and wife Lori of Boulder, Tim Forehand and wife Karen of Edgewood; 13 precious grandchildren; 36 cherished great-grandchildren; 6 loved great-great grandchildren; and caring sister, Betty Johnson and husband RD of LeRoy, IL.
Helen was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband of 67 years, Leo Forehand; her sister, Shirley Purden; her brothers, Chuck Riggs, Bob Riggs, Vernell Riggs, and infant brother, Morton; her son Leo Forehand, Jr.; and her grandson Shannon McWhirter.
Helen was a creative lady enjoying time using her hands with embroidery and crafts. She loved to beautify her outdoor area with colorful flowers that she nurtured. Helen worked hard all her life, at her last job she cared for people as a CNA. Helen’s most treasured time was spent with her family.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka with Pastor David Rogers officiating. Interment will be in the Martin Cemetery in Alma. Friends are invited to a visitation held from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the funeral home in Patoka. Memorials may be made in Helen’s honor to the Patoka Fire Department.
