The last full week of school for area schools is here but Evans Public Library in Vandalia is looking to keep kids learning and reading over the summer as they gearing up for their annual Summer Reading Program. Registration for the program will begin on June 1st and participants can register anytime on or after that date. The program’s kickoff will then be on Monday, June 4 at 10am with a Transportation Petting Zoo at the City Lot where kids will be able to get up close and personal with all types of vehicles including a mail truck, dump truck and many more. There will be weekly programs each Monday covering subjects such as ocean life and international travel. The program is open for readers ages 3-18 and will be divided into two levels and there will be prizes awarded throughout the program.
