(San Diego, CA) — Clayton Richard tossed eight innings of two-run ball to guide the Padres past the Cardinals 5-3 in San Diego. Harrison Bader hit a solo-shot in the ninth for the Cards before the rally fell short. Bader also had an RBI triple and scored on a Jose Martinez basehit in defeat. Adam Wainwright was chased in the third inning and took the loss. The Cardinals dropped two straight after winning the first two in the four-game set.

(San Diego, CA) — Another stint on the disabled list may be in the future for Adam Wainwright. Wainwright aggravated his right elbow problem in yesterday’s loss to San Diego. He recently was activated from the 10-day DL after a bout with right-elbow inflammation.

(Chicago, IL) — Matt Davidson plated the go-ahead run on a sixth inning sac-fly as the White Sox dropped the Cubs 5-3 at Wrigley Field. Kyle Hendricks took the loss for the Cubs, who took two-of-three in the Crosstown Classic. Javier Baez laced a two-run single and Ian Happ had an RBI double in defeat. The Cubs winning streak was halted at five.
