Cases of tick-borne illness have been increasing, and the Illinois Department of Public Health has some tips to protect yourself and your family. Ticks can carry diseases like lyme disease, spotted fever, and new on the scene is the bourbon virus. Public Health Spokesperson Melaney Arnold says the best think you can do to prevent a bite is to wear inset repellant containing at least 20 percent DEET. She also advises checking everyone for ticks before they come inside.
Symptoms of tick-borne illness include fever, chills, aches and pains and the Tell-Tale bullseye rash.
