The Fayette County Board looked to send a message to lawmakers during their meeting Tuesday night after approving sanctuary status for the county for all firearms to protect the rights of gun owners. Fayette County joins Effingham County as the second area county to approve sanctuary status. And speaking after the vote, Fayette County State’s Attorney Josh Morrison says this does not mean that they won’t enforce current gun laws, it is a symbolic gesture showing that Fayette and other sanctuary counties will not be pushed around by Chicago and upstate lawmakers when it comes to unconstitutional gun laws in the State.
Very little discussion was needed on the motion before the board unanimously approved the measure with one board member not in attendance for the vote.
