A 53 year old Las Vegas, Nevada man was arrested in Fayette County on Saturday afternoon, with Illinois State Troopers allegedly discovering 65 kilograms of suspected cocaine. Illinois State Police reports indicate that troopers patrolling on Interstate 70 on Saturday afternoon conducted a traffic stop, where the drugs were allegedly found. ISP says they estimate the street value at $1.1 million. State Police reports say that at around 1:30 pm on Saturday an ISP trooper initiated the traffic stop on a rental truck for traffic violations on Interstate 70 near St. Elmo. State Police say, during the stop, approximately 65 kilograms of suspected cocaine was allegedly discovered. State Police arrested 53 year old Emigdio Penuelas-Medina on pending charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Penuelas-Medina remains in the Fayette County Jail. The Illinois State Police say the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force and the Fayette County State’s Attorney assisted with the investigation.
