A Shobonier man was killed in a one vehicle crash in Marion County. Illinois State Police reports say they received the call on Sunday night at 7:03 pm on Boat Dock Road just west of Bond Avenue in Patoka. Preliminary investigative details say that a pickup truck that has been in an accident was located on it’s top in a creek on Boat Dock Road, east of Bond Avenue about mile west of Patoka in Marion County. The truck, driven by 25 year old Travis Earl Collier of Shobonier has apparently traveled eastbound on Boat Dock Road, crossed the westbound lane, and went off the roadway to the left onto the north shoulder. The truck then struck a ditch/embankment just west of a concrete culvert on Boat Dock Road, causing the truck the go airborne. Reports says the vehicle then struck the concrete face of the east end of the concrete culvert. The truck then overturned and landed on it’s top in the middle of the creek. State Police reports say that Collier has already died prior to the arrival of emergency services and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner at 7:28 pm on Sunday night.
