Illinois House lawmakers passed a bill Thursday protecting good Samaritans rescuing a dog or cat locked in a hot car. The measure provides some liability relief for someone who would break a window to free a dog or cat in serious danger. The bill is sponsored by State Representative David Olsen, who says the good Samaritan must still tread carefully.
The Illinois Senate and Governor must also approve the legislation before it becomes law.
