Parents could give their sick kids a dose of prescribed medical marijuana at school under a bill passed by Illinois House lawmakers. The measure has been dubbed “Ashley’s Law after an 11 year old girl who wasn’t allowed to take medical marijuana for her seizures at school. Her family later sued the Schaumburg School District over the issue. The legislation makes sure parents and caregivers can administer the medication on school grounds or a school bus and is sponsored by State Representative Lou Lang.
The legislation still needs approved by the Senate and Governor.
