In an effort to reduce the opioid epidemic, the Illinois State Police is now offering drop off receptacles for unused and unwanted medications. Addiction often beings with teens trying someone’s leftover meds, so the idea is to make the drugs less readily available says State Police Director Leo Schmitz.
The receptacles will be at five state police district headquarters—including Collinsville. Accepted items include over the county and prescription medications, pet meds, vitamins, liquids and creams.
