A notoriously rough area of road in Vandalia is set for an upgrade following Monday night’s Vandalia City Council meeting. The Vandalia City Council approved a low bid from Precise Construction of Vandalia in the amount of $32,093.75 for the removal of the current pavement and the laying of new pavement at the junction of 8th Street and Janette Drive.
In other business at the meeting, the council approved the low bids for the annual MFT bid letting. The council also opened bids and approved a low bid of $9,000 from Smith Backhoe Service for the demolition of the houses at 308 and 312 N. 5th Street. An agreement with Hurst-Rosche was also approved for the updating of the Vandalia Lake lot map at a cost of $3,100. City Administrator LaTisha Paslay noted that the current maps had not been updated since the late 1990s.
