There have been 2 power outages that effected a large number of Ameren Customers in Fayette County on two Saturdays during March—both of them were reportedly caused by animals.
Marcelyn Love of Ameren says the power outage on Saturday was caused when a squirrel got into their lines which caused an equipment malfunction. The outage for some began before 9 am Saturday morning and power was restored by about 1 pm. Love says that about 1600 customers were effected by the outage.
Back on March 10th, power was out from 1 am to about 6 am for a large number of Ameren customers in Fayette County. That outage was reportedly caused by a raccoon.
