(Chicago, IL) — The trail of people leaving from the Chicago-area aren’t leaving the city’s core. The latest numbers from the U.S. Census show Cook County, particularly suburban Cook lost more than 20 thousand people last year. It’s the latest snapshot that shows people leaving the state of Illinois. Chicago itself lost 13 thousand people in 2017. Chicago is still the third largest metro area in the country, but is one of only ten large cities to lose people last year.
