The City of Vandalia held its first public meeting concerning the new Comprehensive Plan for the city Thursday at the Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus. Residents and business owners and more were able to look at land use and many more aspects of the city and participate in breakout groups to give their input on the direction they would like to the see the city head in aspects to many areas. When asked what the main concerns are he has been hearing from residents and business owners in the last several months, Mayor Rick Gottman says infrastructure and continuing to clean up the city are two areas he has heard about often.
And Mayor Gottman says those topics lead into another big concern of jobs in the community.
The city is working with PGAV of St. Louis to produce the new Comprehensive Plan which is being partially funded by grant money received by the city.
