Theodore “Ted” Edward Carroll, 88, of Vandalia passed away at 6:30 PM, Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 19, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia with Pastor Jerry Bagwell officiating. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Military Rites accorded at graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL & Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Visitation will be held prior to services from 9:30-10:30 AM, Monday, March 19, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church Radio Ministry. Theodore “Ted” Edward Carroll was born April 13, 1929 in Sharpsville, PA. He married Dolores Diane Palmer on November 4, 1951 in Pana. Ted was a United States Navy veteran. For a brief period Ted was a Police officer for the City of Pana, he then worked as a delivery driver for Blue Bell in DuQuoin, and eventually retired from Vandalia Electric. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and daily devotions.
He is survived by sons, Kenneth Carroll, Reynold “Rennie” Carroll, and Jeffrey Carroll, all of Vandalia; sister, Betty Bailey; brothers, Robert Carroll, Bill Carroll, and Charles Carroll; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Dennis Carroll; sister, Heidi Stauder; and brother, David Carroll.
