City of Vandalia residents will get their chance to give their input on what they would like to see from the city in the future when it comes to things such as infrastructure, retail and business, housing and other topics. A public meeting will be held this evening from 5:30 to 8:00pm at Kaskaskia College’s Vandalia Campus.
The input from the community at the meeting will help the city and PGAV as they work to put together a new Comprehensive Plan for the city that will lay out guidelines for the city for the next couple decades as far as goals and initiatives. The new plan will build onto a previous comprehensive plan done by the city. To help with the cost of completing the new plan, the city received a grant in May 2017 in the amount of $15,000 from the Greater Gateway Association of Realtors. The amount received from that grant will cover anywhere from a third to a half of the possible cost of the new comprehensive plan.
