Beginning today, Construction was expected to be ongoing and stepping up on Interstate 70 at the Brownstown Interchange. But, due to colder temperatures, that won’t be happening today. The Illinois Department of Transportation says a crossover will be used to move west bound traffic to the divided eastbound lanes. the traffic will be staged to allow the reconstruction of the structure over the railroad. Originally, that was going to start today. But, Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says I-DOT says the cold weather is going to delay the start of the project until likely Tuesday of this coming week. Traffic does remain reduced to one lane on each side in that area of Interstate 70.
