Two people were injured in an accident on Interstate 70 in Fayette County on Saturday. The accident occurred at 4:10 pm on Saturday afternoon at mile marker 63, the Vandalia/Pana exit. Illinois State Police reports say that a vehicle driven by 19 year old Alivia L. Drew of Champaign was traveling westbound in the passing lane on Interstate 70. A Semi and Trailer being operated by 31 year old Rajinder Singh of Fresno, California was also traveling westbound in the right lane in the same location. State Police reports state that Drew’s vehicle went off the roadway to the left and went down into the grass center median. Drew’s vehicle then re-entered the roadway, crossed the passing lane and struck the driver’s side rear tire on the trailer being pulled by Singh’s vehicle. After striking the tire, Drew’s vehicle then overturned onto it’s top and came to rest facing north in the passing lane. Both Drew and a passenger, 23 year old James L. Buford of Rantoul, were transported to Fayette County Hospital for treatment.
