The Illinois State Board of Elections is assuring several steps have been taken to increase data security. A recent report found that Russian hackers compromised seven states, including Illinois, prior to the 2016 Election. And, the board has been working to prevent that from happening again. Executive Director Steven Sandvoss says he recently sat in on a briefing with the Department of Homeland Security.
I-T experts at the board say the hackers were never able to alter any records and that the state has upped prevention and detection capabilities.
