The Vandalia Police Department has released a statement regarding a possible threat at Vandalia High School earlier this week.
In information from Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray, he says on the morning of February 14th the Vandalia PD was notified of a possible threat at Vandalia High School. Chief Ray says it was reported to police that a student had made comments about having a plan to do a shooting in the school. Chief Ray says that officers interviewed multiple witnesses and spoke to the juvenile that allegedly made the statement. Chief Ray says the juvenile suspect claimed to be joking around when he made the statement. The juvenile was placed under arrest and the investigation is ongoing. Chief Ray adds they take the statements of this type very seriously. Chief Ray also added they are unaware of any other threat or incidents other than this one that took place on Wednesday.
