(Washington, DC) — A government shutdown is on after a short-term spending bill fails to pass on Capitol Hill. The government ran out of money at midnight. Congressional leaders and the White House are expected to continue negotiating over the weekend in an effort to end the stalemate. The effects of a shutdown would not start being felt until Monday morning when federal offices reopen. The shutdown occurs on the first anniversary of President Trump’s inauguration.
