(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner says he would not sign a bill to legalize marijuana for recreational use. The push to legalize recreational pot in Illinois is gaining some momentum in the legislature, but Governor Rauner says states where it is legal already are conducting an experiment on young people. He warns that it’s prudent to watch those states to see what impact legalization has on addiction rates among young people. Rauner says the current varieties of marijuana are potent and dangerous, and that Illlinois shouldn’t rush to legalize something that could affect the quality of life for many people.
