Governor Bruce Rauner is wrapping up his week-long stay at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy and announcing plans to combat Legionnaires Disease and improve the facility. Governor Rauner lived at the home for a week, sleeping there, showering there, drinking the water and spending time with the residents. He says the state must continue to aggressively pursue water treatment options and prevent any more Legionnaires Disease.
Rauner says the plumbing will be replaced and he will also work with the City of Quincy to find additional water sources. he also wants to seek funding to modernize resident rooms and possibly build a new building on the campus.
