The Fayette County Board approved a new ordinance pertaining to sexual harassment during their meeting on Tuesday night. The board unanimously approved an ordinance prohibiting sexual harassment for the county. That ordinance will become a part of the personnel handbook that itself will undergo some changes in the near future. Updates to the handbook were also approved by the board and during discussion, Assistant State’s Attorney Brenda Mathis, who has been working with the county’s consultant Bellwether in past months as well as County Clerk Vicky Conder on updating the handbook, says she is also working on making the handbook easier for the county’s employees to use and find information. Mathis informed the board that she had been told that a few employees have had trouble finding specific information at times and updating the handbook to make it more user friendly will be a benefit for everyone.
Also at the meeting, the board approved the renewal of the liquor license for the Fayette County Fair Association. The 2017 Fayette County Fair and a couple of other events at the fairgrounds were able to serve beer for the first-time last year after originally receiving their license once voters agreed to lift the prohibition for the township where the fairgrounds are located.
