Fayette County employees will have the same health insurance for now after the county board agreed to continue to work with Health Alliance for their insurance on a month to month basis. Work has been ongoing to explore other insurance possibilities for the county and board member Jenny Waggoner has been a key researcher in that aspect and explained to the board that of all the options she had looked at and researched, the best option in her opinion from what she had found so far was to look at Hope Trust for the county’s insurance. Jamie Simmons of Dimond Bros. who the county works with on their insurance currently was present for the meeting. Without going into details, Simmons did inform the board that there may be a few things the county would want to look at before going with the Hope Trust. Simmons also informed the board that he himself had also looked with many companies as he has access to a large number and said what was looked at as a high amount of ongoing lasting claims led to many full funded and self-insured companies to be leery and turn down the county. Simmons did inform the board that they could continue on a month-by-month basis and that a renewal this month would just lock in the rate for the county for 12 months.
