The new ambulance provider in Fayette County held an official ribbon cutting on Thursday at their new Vandalia location. Rural Med EMS came into the county on October 17 after the county was given last minute notice from Altamont Ambulance that they were dissolving and would no longer be offering service to the county where they had long served as the second service in town along with the ambulance service offered by Fayette County Hospital. After the ribbon cutting, Ethan Bouser of Rural Med says everything has been smooth for them since coming into the county a month and a half ago.
Rural Med currently has three rigs ready to serve the county and they plan on bringing a fourth rig to their location at 2515 Veterans Avenue, Suite 2A.
