The race for the Republican nomination for the area’s State Senate seat will be crowded as expected. George Barber of Greenville, Rafael Him of New Baden, Ben Stratemeyer of Centralia and Jason Plummer of Edwardsville all four filed their petitions on Monday, seeking the Republican nomination for the 54th district State Senate seat—looking to replace Kyle McCarter. The four will square off against one another in the March 20th primary. No Democrat candidate has yet filed for the race.
Meanwhile, one candidate for the area’s State Representative seat filed their petitions on Monday. Republican Blaine Wilhour filed his petitions on Monday to run for the nomination for the 107th District State Representative seat—looking to replace John Cavaletto. Laura Myers of Greenville has announced her candidacy as a Republican in the race. But, she did not file her paperwork on Monday.
