The state’s Climatologist gives us an idea on when we can expect to see the first snowfall in Illinois. State Climatologist Jim Angel says northern Illinois has already seen a little bit of snow. Some parts of Central Illinois did, too—but they usually have to wait until early to mid December and it can late December to mid January for far Southern Illinois.
Angel says La Nina will be a factor which usually brings warmer and wetter weather to Illinois. He notes it will just depend on how strong that event is this winter.
