For the first time in more than a decade, there will be a new Superintendent of Schools for the Vandalia School District. After a brief closed session to discuss personnel at the Vandalia School Board Meeting on Tuesday, the board accepted the resignation of Rich Well as the Superintendent of Schools, effective immediately. No explanation for the resignation was given, other than Well did say it was for personal reasons. Well has been in the Vandalia School District for 27 years and has served for better than 11 years as the district’s Superintendent of Schools.
Meanwhile, Well’s short term replacement will be named later today. The Vandalia School Board will hold a special meeting this afternoon at 3 pm to name the interim Superintendent of Schools. Well was originally going to retire at the end of this school year, but the person named today as interim will not be a candidate for the permanent position—as interviews will go on for the permanent replacement as earlier planned.
