(Springfield, IL) — Chances are you will see an Illinois state trooper this weekend. The state police yesterday kicked off its Thanksgiving weekend patrol by stationing a trooper every 20 miles along the length of I-55. State police commanders say they are looking to cut the number of people who die from the “fatal four:” speeding, drunk driving, talking on the phone and not wearing a seat belt. Troopers will be out in force through Sunday.
