(Chicago, IL) — Illinois‘ new immigration law could cost the state millions of dollars. The Trump Administration yesterday sent the state a letter warning that the state’s Trust Act, which prohibits the state from asking about immigration status or holding immigration suspects for federal authorities, violates federal policy. The letter says the administration may withhold nearly seven million-dollars in grant money from the state if the law is not changed.
