Schools will now be required to teach students cursive writing under a new state law. The Illinois House and Senate have overidden the Governor’s veto of a bill requiring public elementary schools to teach at least one unit of cursive. State Senator Kimberly Lightford says it’s a practical skill that students need to learn.
The new law will take effect in the 2018-19 school year.
