(Springfield, IL) — There is finally someone in the office at the Illinois Capital to look at sexual harassment claims. Lawmakers on Saturday named former Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Porter as the new Legislative Inspector General. The post had been empty for two years. Lawmakers hope Porter can bring some calm to the tumultuous statehouse atmosphere after the release of a letter that detailed a culture of sexual harassment and years of inaction on harassment claims.
