(Springfield, IL) — At least Illinois isn’t the worst in the country. A new study from the Pew Charitable Trust says Illinois‘ budget is the second worst in the country. The state has enough money to pay just 94-percent of its debt load, the national average for states is 102-percent. Only New Jersey is worse, that state can only pay for 92-percent of its debt.
