A trial date has been set for a Vandalia man charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under 13 years of age. 28-year old Matthew Crawford appeared in Fayette County Court on Thursday for a status hearing. During the hearing, a date was set for bench trial on January 17th as Crawford previously waived his right to a jury trial during a September hearing. Defense attorney David Grigsby also informed the court that his client wished to have a 402 conference held with Judge Don Sheafor and a date of December 13 at 10am was set for that conference to take place. Crawford is charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13, all of which are Class X felonies and punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison.
