(Carbondale, IL) — Southern Illinois University’s new chancellor says bureaucratic bloat is holding the school back. Southern Illinois University Carbondale Chancellor Carlo Montemagno yesterday told students and faculty members at an open forum that there are plenty of ideas to revive SIU, but he said that ‘bureaucratic and artificial boundaries’ are stopping the school from moving forward. Montemagno is proposing a plan to shake up how the school is organized and managed to better promote ‘synergy.’
