(Chicago, IL) — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois are promising to remain in the state’s health insurance exchange next year, even though President Trump announced today that he’s cutting out subsidies that help poor people get coverage. It’s not clear if the state’s other insurance companies will stay in the exchange. Blue Cross says it had already accounted for the possibility that Trump would take this action as a way of weakening the Affordable Care Act. Illinois consumers are already facing fewer choices and higher premiums for coverage next year through the exchange.
