After just announcing earlier this week he was running for the area’s State Representative seat, a candidate has decided to suspend his campaign. Adam Smith of Marion County announced earlier this week he would be a Republican candidate for the 107th District State Representative seat. But, on Wednesday afternoon, Smith put out a news release saying he was suspending his campaign. Smith says that upon review, he realized there was not enough time for him to work on the campaign along with running his business. Smith runs a trucking company and is also a member of the Marion County Board. With Smith stepping out, only Effingham businessman Brian Milleville is in the race for the Republican nomination for the 107th district seat—although there is talk that others may enter. The seat will be open after State Representative John Cavaletto announced he will not seek another term in office.
