Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith hosted a quarterly law enforcement meeting on Wednesday that was attended by around 50 officers from the various municipalities in the county, the Illinois State Police, organizations that work with law enforcement locally and more. Sheriff Smith says this was the largest attended meeting and they had several good speakers on hand.
And just like schools and businesses and other entities, law enforcement agencies have mandates that they have to keep up with and meetings like these gives them an opportunity to learn more about those mandates and other things going on in law enforcement.
Also during the meeting, the sheriff’s department was able to have their new drone available for viewing to be used in search and rescue and other situations. The drone was able to be purchased from the drug seizure fund.
