It is official, the area will see a Primary Race for both the State Senate and State Representative’s seats in March of 2018. Jason Plummer has announced he will run for the 54th District State Senate seat, which will be left vacant by Kyle McCarter not seeking another term in office. Plummer talks about his reasons for jumping into the State Senate race.
Plummer, who is a businessman working with family-owned business RP Lumber, has ran as the Lieutenant Governor candidate with Bill Brady in 2010 and ran for the 12th district Congressional seat in 2012, losing in both elections by slim margins. Plummer will face at least one candidate in the primary, as Marion County Republican Party Chairman Ben Stratemeyer has announced he will run. For the area’s State Representative seat, both Republicans Brian Milleville and Adam Smith have announced they will run—meaning both races will have a Primary election in March of 2018.
