The unemployment rate fell in all metro areas last month, but job growth still lags behind the nation. All 14 metro areas in Illinois saw a drop in the jobless rate from August of 2016 to August of this year says State Department of Employment Security Spokesperson Bob Gough.
Nearly 25 thousand jobs were added over the year, mostly in the Chicago area. Declines were seen in Danville and Elgin.
