Three different cases of men charged with money laundering had hearings continued in Fayette County Court this week. 23-year old Brandon L. Haywood of Granada Hills, California was set to make his first appearance with counsel for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. Haywood was not present for that hearing however after posting bond just over a week ago. Due to no defendant or defense counsel, the matter was reset for October 17 at 11am. Haywood is charged with one count of money laundering which is a Class 3 felony and is punishable by 2 to 5 years in prison.
The case of 27-year old Jorge Hernandez-Casals of Doral, Florida was reset for a pre-trial hearing on October 17 at 10am as jointly agreed upon between the state and the defense. Hernandez-Casals is charged with one count of money laundering, a Class X felony, punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison as well as 10 counts of unlawful possession of a credit card of another, all Class 4 felonies, each punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison. Hernandez-Casals posted $10,000 bond in May, but was present for his July setting with attorney Patrick Schaufelberger.
Pre-trial for 25-year old Rey Jose Melcon Del Rio of Miami, Florida was reset for October 17 at 10am. Melcon Del Rio who was arrested with Hernandez-Casals, is charged with one count of money laundering, a Class X felony, punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison as well as 10 counts of unlawful possession of a credit card of another, all Class 4 felonies, each punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison. Melcon Del Rio posted $10,000 bond in May, but was also present for his July setting also with attorney Patrick Schaufelberger.
