(Chicago, IL) — Kyle Hendricks fired a gem as the Cubs downed the Cardinals, 4-1, at Wrigley Field. Hendricks struck out five over seven-and-two-thirds innings of one-run ball to pick up the win. Wade Davis pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 30th save. Albert Almora Junior finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Addison Russell added a solo homer. The Cubs hold a five-game lead over the Cards for first in the NL Central. Matt Carpenter prevented the shutout with an eighth inning solo homer. Michael Wacha was charged with the loss for St. Louis.
