(Springfield, IL) — One of Illinois‘ longest serving lawmakers say this is her last go-round in Springfield. Chicago Democrat Barbara Flynn Currie yesterday announced that she won’t seek re-election next year. Currie has served in the Illinois legislature for 38 years, and she’s the first woman to become Majority Leader. Currie is the 24th Illinois lawmaker to retire, step down, or choose to run for another office this year.
