A Vandalia man charged with multiple counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 is set to make an appearance in Fayette County Court this morning. 27-year old Matthew Crawford of Vandalia is set for a pre-trial hearing. During Crawford’s last appearance on August 14, a motion to suppress an interview done with Crawford by two special agents was argued. The two special agents testified and a copy of the interview was given to Judge Don Sheafor who took the motion to suppress under advisement. It is possible that Judge Sheafor could enter his decision on that motion during tomorrow’s hearing. Crawford is charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 in December 2015, all of which are Class X felonies and punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison.
