The case of a Beecher City man charged with grooming was continued once again in Fayette County Court due to another delay in his Effingham County case that is currently ongoing. 21-year old Tony L. Krueger made a brief appearance in Fayette County Court on Wednesday morning for what was scheduled to be a pre-trial hearing. However, defense counsel for Krueger, Public Defender Bill Starnes, informed the court that Krueger was expected to reach a plea in the Effingham County case in which he is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault of a victim more than 5 years younger. However, a sex offender evaluation had not been done that is needed before a plea can be completed in that case. With Starnes reiterating that the Effingham County case is a more serious charge and that case needed to be resolved before the Fayette County case could proceed, the pre-trial was reset for September 19 at 10am which will come a week after Krueger’s next Effingham County appearance. Krueger is charged in Fayette County with one count of grooming which is a Class 4 felony which is punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison. Krueger remains in custody in Effingham County Jail.
