Last month was the 12th coolest August on record in Illinois. State Climatologist Jim Angel says the statewide average temperature came in at just under 71 degrees for August, which is 3 degrees below normal. And, Angel says precipitation was an inch less than usual.
September could be more of the same as the long term outlook calls for below normal temps and rainfall.
