(Chicago, IL) — John Lackey combined with three relievers on a four-hitter as the Cubs blanked the Braves 2-0 at Wrigley Field. Lackey struck out five while allowing just three hits and no walks to improve to 11-and-10. Lackey says they can’t let their foot off the gas with a month to go.
Wade Davis recorded his 28th save as Chicago won its fifth straight game. Kyle Schwarber plated a run in the third with an infield single and Ian Happ singled home another in the fourth. Mike Foltynewicz allowed two runs in six and a third frames to fall to 10-and-11 with the tough-luck loss. Rio Ruiz had two of Atlanta’s four hits in defeat.
