A Vandalia woman charged with aggravated battery of a child resulting in great bodily harm or permanent disability will make an appearance in Fayette County Court today. 24-year old Aubree Hammer is set for a pre-trial hearing this morning at 10am. After a trial date if September 25 was given for Hammer during her last appearance just under four weeks ago, today’s appearance is expected at this time to be the final pre-trial in the matter before proceeding to trial later this month. Hammer is alleged to have injured her, at that time, 3 ½ month old baby in February of 2016 and is charged with one count of aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 with great bodily harm or permanent disability. The offense is a Class X Felony and it is punishable by 6-30 years in prison. Bond for Hammer is set at $1 million and she does currently remain in custody in the Fayette County Jail.
