We hear again today from State Senator Kyle McCarter, as he explains why he voted No for the Education Funding Reform bill. The measure, that passed both the House and Senate this week, was called “historic” by Governor Bruce Rauner. But, Senator McCarter says the bill is not what it seems. And, he says one issue is no property tax relief of any kind.
As McCarter also states, he doesn’t believe the state can afford the bill. Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Rich Well says the Vandalia School District will get an additional $500,000 in funding under the new funding plan.
